Here is the timetable and the stock of pictograms/words/pictures we made to help Camille understand the notion of time, get marks, anticipate special events, reduce her anxiety for anything unexpected and get used to the world where she lives. We also add clocks (one ordinary and small others for special times of the day) to get Camille used with notion of hour. We also put different colours on white strips (after the photos...) to differentiate mornings and afternoons. When an important event arrives (birthday, holidays...) we stick pictos/photos or words on the timetable to get Camille used with it. Below it was for a week-end in the mountains organized by Camille institute. We noted that during two nights Camille will not sleep at home and the third night she will come back to sleep in her bedroom. We also explain what she will do with other children. I also do a paper version I put in her bag in case she needs marks she can have a look on it. We also use a timer which has miraculous effects ! When the time is off and the timer rings Camille knows she has to stop watching TV/her dad is going to come back work/we have to go to pick up her brother or sister at school. Sometimes she even go and fetch the timer to give it to me and it's a real proof she needs this kind of repare. It's a very simple help but very useful !
We also did a special form we sticked on the fridge for the allowed/not allowed behaviours (with pictos/words/signs/colors). We regularly get Camille look this form to help her not to remember for example that the cat don't like to have it tail pulled... Idem for her brother very long hair...
